Recent developments include the Federal Communications Commission approval on May 16, 2025, of its $20 billion all-stock acquisition of Frontier Communications to expand fiber broadband capabilities; a strategic fiber agreement with Eaton Fiber announced October 2025 for exclusive retail residential services in new markets with third-party funding and accelerated builds complementing Fios and Frontier footprints; acquisition of Starry's fixed wireless assets serving multi-dwelling units in major U.S. cities like Boston and New York, targeting doubled fixed wireless subscribers to 8-9 million by 2028; a long-term infrastructure agreement with SBA Communications in November 2025 for cost efficiencies and 4G/5G expansion; a $3.3 billion tower sale-leaseback transaction with Vertical Bridge completed in late 2024; partnership with AST SpaceMobile in May 2024 for direct-to-cell satellite capabilities enhancing remote area coverage; and launch of an AI-powered customer experience platform in June 2025 across stores, support, and digital services.
